It’s been years since the revival of upstate New York’s Hudson swung into high gear. But the big news now is the food: specifically, the trend of chefs fleeing the big city for a simpler existence cooking off the land in a quaint riverside town. High-end inns and cultural centers (run by everyone from former Smashing Pumpkins bassist Melissa Auf der Maur to performance artist Marina Abramović) only underscore the area’s appeal. And the photogenic main drag of Warren Street can easily fill a long weekend of window-shopping, not just for Edward Wormley coffee tables and Scandinavian étagères but for handcrafted perfumes, ceramics, and leather goods.
